The Details

  • Location

    Where is it?

Whitsand Bay is a wide, dramatic arc of coast, with a long sandy beach dotted with craggy rocks and backed by high cliffs. This beautiful stretch of Cornwall is a great place to get away from all the hectic demands of modern life. Pottering about on the sand, exploring the winding cliff paths and strolling to the nearby cafe for lunch, making life simple and relaxing is what Whitsand Bay is all about.

If you need a fix of city distractions, Plymouth, with all its theatres, cinemas, cafes, restaurants and shops, is a short drive away; if you fancy all that a classic seaside town offers, Looe is a similar distance in the other direction.

Please note - the path is steep, narrow and uneven and may be difficult for those with reduced mobility.

Guest Reviews

"The cottage was absolutely gorgeous in an amazing location. We have been visiting Whitsand bay for many years and this was our favourite cottage. We met the owner who was extremely helpful and
generous and I'd absolutely recommend staying here. "

"This is the fourth time we have stayed at Cliffside. We stay out of season as it's great value. We love the beach, cliff walks and the fabulous view from the bi-fold doors. We will definitely be back in the future. "

"We love this property and have stayed a few times before and also have another booking already made for later in the year. We love the view, the beach and the walks. The property is very comfortable for two people."

"This was our second visit to Cliffside and it was excellent as before. We had fantastic weather and loved exploring the beautiful coastal walks and the lovely beach. The cabin has all you need for a very comfortable stay and a view from the bi-fold doors that you would never tire looking at. We put more effort into packing this time, and which bags to use, so that it was easier to carry our stuff down the cliff and needed less trips back to car."

"The photos of the property match what it is like in reality! Such a stunning place! It was so clean and well equipped with all we needed and more. The little touches such as flowers, milk, tea, coffee and Prosecco were very much appreciated. We were able to get into the property early and Bill (the owner) was lovely. We stayed during Storm Eunice which was an experience and Bill came beforehand to help us in case the pilot light blew out on the boiler and he kept in touch with us during the day. This meant a lot to us and was very reassuring. Lots of people have asked for the details of where we stayed and I was more than happy to pass them on. Dealing with Beach Retreats was also excellent at all levels and I would highly recommend them as a holiday company to anyone."

"Amazing views of the sea from lounge (sliding full length bifold doors) and bedrooms. Very secluded and not overlooked. Steep pathway to the cabin. You may find a wheel barrow in car park space. Steep path to the cabin - but it's worth it! Flowers, Prosecco and a pint of milk were welcomed extras on day of arrival."

"Excellent stay at Cliffside. Very well equipped with basic condiments to hand which was a nice surprise. Glad we took advantage of food ordering which had been kindly put away for us by Karen. Very clean, in fact it was spotless and we felt perfectly reassured amid these Covid times! Too chilly to sit out much but that didn't matter. The view is spectacular. Had the pleasure of meeting Karen on the way out who was delightful. And a personal text from owner Bill was a nice touch. Thank you. "
