Your Beach. Found: Perranporth

Perranporth Beach

There’s an unmistakable energy at Perranporth Beach. A vast stretch of golden sand at low tide, where the sea shimmers and the air hums with life. Dog walkers wander the tidelines, surfers ride rolling waves, and families sprawl out with buckets, spades and beach picnics. Up on rooftop decks, cocktails are poured and conversations linger as the sunset lights the sky scarlet.

Discover

  • A lively, expansive beach with surf schools and tidal pools
  • Dramatic rock formations
  • Where to eat and drink in Perranporth
  • Shops, galleries and the best local finds
  • and more…

Perranporth has all the elements of a classic Cornish family beach – and then some. Lifeguarded through summer, it’s ideal for swimming, bodyboarding and surfing, with surf schools dotted along the shoreline.

Low tide reveals a different world: rock arches, sea caves, and a large emerald tidal pool tucked behind the iconic Chapel Rock, where the Cornish flag flies proudly overhead.

You could easily spend an entire day exploring. Wade through rockpools teeming with life, swim in sheltered turquoise pools, and wander the coast path high above the sands, with views stretching across the Atlantic and over the dunes to the golf course beyond.

Food and drink

Perranporth’s laid-back food scene centres around beachside decks and sea views.

Start at The Summerhouse, where fish tacos, oysters, and loaded truffle fries meet light-filled interiors and a sunny terrace overlooking the beach.

For coffee, cocktails and sunset magic, head to Alcatraz – a rooftop bar perched right on the sand, serving matcha lattes by day and spritzes by night.

The Watering Hole – famously ‘the UK’s only bar on the beach’ – is a must for pizza and pints, while The Nest, their new rooftop addition, offers a fresh perspective on the waves.

Wander into town for more foodie finds. The Waterfront Bar is a vibrant spot for sundowners.

The Seiners Arms serves pub classics with a sea view, whilst Roots Café is a favourite for vegan dishes and laid-back brunches.

Shops and local finds

No trip here is complete without a mooch along the high street. Pop into Brocante for curated homeware and gifts, or browse coastal throws and blankets at Atlantic Blankets.

Among the bohemian streets you’ll also find indie boutiques, surf shops and quirky cafés – the perfect mix of laid-back and lively, much like the beach itself.

Whether you’re swimming in hidden pools, riding waves or soaking it all up with a drink in hand, Perranporth is the kind of place that keeps calling you back – one beach day here is never quite enough.

Stay in Perranporth at The Dunes, a selection of apartments directly on the beach with incredible sea views and instant sand access.
