Cornwall doesn’t stop in October and November. Here’s our pick of happenings over the next coming months, including walking challenges, good food events and the National SUP Championships.
Be a world record breaker and support the beautiful South West Coast Path at the same time. The South West Coast Path Challenge, backed by TV adventurer Monty Halls, aims to set a new world record for the number of times the Coast Path can be covered in one month while raising funds to protect the coastline for future generations. There’s a walk to suit all ages and levels of ability. Take a look at the example challenges, or join an organised 10-miler. Just register and away you go.
Event’s Square, Falmouth from Thursday 8 to Sunday 11 October
Celebrating the start of Oyster season, this is one of Cornwall’s biggest and best love food festivals. Shuck and sample the native Fal Oyster, watch cookery demos (or even join them on stage) or just kick back and relax in the bustling atmosphere with bands taking to the stage well into the evenings.
Watergate Bay on Saturday 28 November
A whole feast of foodie fun will descend upon Watergate Bay’s car park from 9.30am to 3.30pm, with chef demos including Jack Stein of Stein’s with Ross Geach of Padstow Kitchen Garden and Mathilda and John Eldridge from Strong Adolfos. You’ll be able to pick up dinner from favourite producers such as Origin Coffee, Da Bara Bakery and seafood from Matthew Stevens in Newlyn, but there’ll be plenty of activities and entertainment for children too. Best of all? It’s free to attend.

Hosted by the Extreme Academy, the seventh annual British Stand Up Paddleboard Association (BSUPA) National Surf Championships will see the best in SUP reach Watergate Bay. The eternal seasonal favourite comes to Cornwall thanks to the award-winning St Petersburg Classic Ballet. The Nutcracker is the perfect introduction to ballet, with Tchaikovsky’s endearingly familiar score performed by a live orchestra making this an unmissable family treat.
