THE BEST THING ABOUT:

Cornish coastal hideaways don't come any lovelier than this one. Harbourside Cottage is cosy, romantic and perfectly placed in the heart of historic Boscastle.

THE WALK TO THE BEACH?

A 300 metre level potter along the riverside brings you to the ancient harbour where the river meets the ocean.

Where Is It?

Boscastle is the very definition of North Cornish beauty; steep cliffs, an ancient, picturesque harbour and a cluster of gorgeous cottages interspersed with little cafes and shops.

The pace of life in this pretty village is blissfully relaxed -  the toughest decision of the day is what flavour ice cream to choose. If you need some serious downtime to recharge the batteries, Boscastle is a great choice.

The landscape of here has a dramatic feel; the village follows the path of a narrow, shallow river through the valley, between two mighty headlands, to the ocean. There is no big sweep of sand, but children will love to paddle where the river meets the sea - at low tide there is a small sandy beach.

Boscastle is well-placed when it comes to exploring Cornwall, with plenty of classic beaches, towns and attractions within easy driving distance.

Inside:

  • A beautiful one-bedroom fisherman's cottage near the harbour at Boscastle.
  • Views of the river and the headland towards the sea.
  • Thoughtfully renovated to retain lots of period features, including the wood burning stove, deep slate-lined window recesses and original beams.
  • Set well back from the road, Harbourside Cottage is a peaceful hideaway.
