Holiday cottages in Downderry

Shingle beaches and moonlit paddles await when you stay in one of our Downderry cottages. Stride out along the seawall, paddle in the shallows, and find a sunny spot for a lazy afternoon lounge; the south coast shelter of Downderry is perfect for families and four-legged friends (it's a dog-friendly beach all year round).

Walk from the village slipway across and back to Downderry’s sister beach, Seaton, watch the fisherman casting lines and drawing fresh fish from the water or be lured into one of the village’s gastropubs or eateries for a sundowner. A steaming bowl of mussels and a glass of sauvignon blanc? It’d be rude not to.

When the southerly swells are firing and the winds are right, Downderry is a less populated spot to catch a wave and is popular with local surfers. This stretch of coast also plays home to many more bays waiting to be discovered, including Portwrinkle, Millendreath and Talland.

The details

Food and drink

Seaton Beach has a lovely selection of restaurants nearby, including Seaton Beach Cafe, Blue Plate Restaurant, and Waves. A little further afield on foot, you will reach a lovely restaurant called Summink Different Vegetarian Restaurant.

Can I bring my dog?

Seaton loves dogs, and dogs love Seaton; the beach is dog friendly all year round. At low tide, you can walk to the next dog-friendly beach, which is Downderry. We are certain your dog will have a great time here.

Accessibility

The beach has level access onto the sand. There are two pay-and-display car parks nearby. Toilets are located next to the car park. There is no RNLI Lifeguard cover.
