Perched on Tregonhawke Cliff high above the beach and sea, this chic chalet is made for romantic escapes and family holidays. With dramatic views of the expansive ocean and a unique position tucked into the cliffside, this is a retreat simply a holiday home but an experience to be had. Whitsand Bay is a wide, dramatic arc of coast with a long sandy beach, craggy rocks, and high cliffs on the Rame Peninsula, which is known as Cornwall's 'Forgotten Corner' and part of the Cornwall National Landscape.
Inside, the light and airy open plan living space offers spectacular panoramic views over Whitsand Bay. The sitting area has a three-seater sofa, armchair, wood burner, flat screen TV with Chromecast, and a selection of books and games. The fully equipped kitchen features a De’Longhi Icona Micalite coffee machine, with a stable door leading to a secluded decked area. The dining area seats four, with sliding patio doors onto a private garden. The plush master bedroom has a king-size bed and magnificent sea views, while the cosy second bedroom has a chalet-style bunk bed, a double on the bottom and single on top, with a walk-in wardrobe and en-suite wet room. A family bathroom with walk-in shower and a WC completes the interior. Outside, the private garden has a lawn and decked area, with sun loungers, seating, and alfresco dining beneath a shade sail, all facing panoramic cliff and sea views. A coal BBQ, outdoor shower, and utility shed with a washing machine also feature. Roadside parking is available at the top of the cliff on a first come, first served basis, and the path from the parking area down to the chalet is narrow and uneven, which may be difficult for those with reduced mobility.
The sandy beach at Tregonhawke is a short 250 metre walk down the cliff path, and forms part of Whitsand Bay’s stretch of coast – please note the footpath is steep and not suitable for wheelchairs or people with limited mobility. The lifeguarded beach (May to September) is ideal for swimming, kayaking, wind and kite surfing, and fishing. A clifftop cafe is a 10-minute walk away, with a Michelin Guide-listed restaurant within 15 minutes on foot. Take a short drive to the coastal villages of Kingsand and Cawsand for cafes, shops, and surf hire. From there, a ferry can take you across to Plymouth with its scenic port and array of eateries, or head west to Looe and Polperro for seafood restaurants and pubs.
