This stylish eco-home sits just moments from the shoreline of Watergate Bay, offering families, couples and groups of up to ten a front-row seat to one of North Cornwall's most spirited stretches of coast. Scarlet sunsets set the sky alight above two miles of sand, where surfers ride incoming Atlantic swell and dogs dash between the waves. The atmosphere at Watergate is as constant as the tides, with vibrant music festivals and surf competitions running throughout the year.
Inside, a large first-floor open-plan living area features a barrel-rolled ceiling, two sofas, two armchairs, a virtual flame fireplace, a 47-inch HD widescreen television with Blu-Ray player, and WiFi. Full-width glass doors flood the space with light and frame views out to the ocean. A dining area seats up to ten beneath sea-themed artwork, and the fully equipped kitchen includes an island unit. A separate laundry room houses a washer and tumble dryer, and a cloakroom with basin and WC is also on hand. Ecologically sustainable features – sedum roofs, air source heat pumps and brise soleil temperature control – keep the apartment comfortable year-round, with underfloor heating throughout. Four bedrooms offer plush, relaxed interiors with a Moroccan-meets-beach-house feel: two with super-king beds and en-suite bathrooms featuring double shower enclosures and freestanding double-ended baths, and two further rooms with flexible zip-and-link beds (available as twins or super-king doubles) plus pull-out single truckle beds, sharing a large Jack and Jill bathroom with bath, shower enclosure and twin basins. Each bedroom has a wall-mounted television, desk and chair, and doors opening to a patio. A travel cot, high chair, iron, ironing board and hairdryer are provided. Outside, a full-width first-floor veranda with table, chairs and sun loungers overlooks the bay, while a ground-floor patio provides additional space. A store room with a wetsuit rack and outside surf shower makes post-beach clean-up simple, and designated parking for two cars includes two electric vehicle charge points.
Stride out along the South West Coast Path to Mawgan Porth and its collection of cafes and restaurants, or head to Porth beach and its beachside pub. Bedruthan Steps can also be reached along the coast path, while Newquay's seven bays offer further exploration. The beach at Watergate Bay is exposed to incoming swell from the Atlantic, making it an excellent spot for watersports – try your hand at surfing, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding and kite surfing with a local surf school.
