With the beach just 10 metres away, this seafront retreat on the Widemouth Bay coastline is an ideal base for families and groups of friends looking to live and breathe the beach. Part of a development of five eco-homes, it offers space for ten guests and wide-open sea views across Black Rock Beach, the wild north end of Widemouth Bay. From almost every room, you can take in rugged rocks, crashing waves, sunrises, sunsets, beach walkers and, with luck, dolphins on the horizon.

Upstairs, an open-plan living, dining and kitchen space leads out to a large balcony with uninterrupted sea views. The living area has ample seating with sofas and armchairs and a TV, while a central dining table seats ten. kitchen includes a Nespresso coffee machine, cafetiere and Quooker hot tap, with cosy snug seating next to the island for wave-watching and conversation. Colourful coastal artwork, cushions, throws and houseplants create a homely, beach-chic feel. The bedroom levels are slightly staggered by several steps. On the lower-ground-floor level, three bedrooms have king-size beds and doors to the patio with sea views; the first of these also has an en-suite shower room with a walk-in rainfall shower and a WC. The second and third bedrooms share the family bathroom, which has a bath, walk-in rainfall shower and WC. A fourth ground-floor bedroom has a king-size zip-and-link bed that can be made into a twin, plus an en-suite shower room with a walk-in rainfall shower and a WC. The fifth ground-floor bedroom a bunk bed with a single over a double and an en-suite shower room with a walk-in rainfall shower and a WC. Underfloor heating runs throughout. Outside, the balcony has rattan seating, two chairs and a coffee table, while the curved patio looks towards the ocean. The property also has shared gardens, two private parking spaces.

Widemouth Bay is a long, unspoilt stretch of sandy beach known for great surf and water sports, with lifeguard cover throughout summer. A beach café nearby serves brunch, lunch and coffee all day. Several pubs are within walking distance, and direct access to the coast path means miles of walking in either direction. Less than 3 miles away, Bude has a good range of restaurants and shops. Activities nearby include coasteering, surf and kitesurf lessons, stand-up paddleboarding, bike hire, canoeing and kayaking.
