The stunning location with panoramic sea views and secluded peace and quiet.

THE WALK TO THE BEACH?

200 metres down the cliff-side path

Where Is It?

Whitsand Bay is situated in South East Cornwall and runs from Rame Head in the East to Portwrinkle in the West. Otherwise known as 'Cornwall's forgotten corner', it is characterised by sheer, high cliffs, dramatic scenery and long stretches of sandy beaches. Tregonhawke is a popular beach for families with plenty of rock pools to explore and a great surfing spot with an RNLI lifeguard service operating between May-September. There's a whole host of water activities close by with a surf school on the beach offering surf lessons, wetsuit, surfboard and paddle board hire along with coasteering and for the more adventurous there is fishing and diving off the wreck of HMS Scylla in the bay. The award winning View Cafe is a great spot for a meal and at the bottom of the cliffs at Tregonhawke Beach the Eddystone Cafe is an ideal place to grab a coffee and just enjoy the stunning views.

Our third visit to the cliff and by far the best! This place is like being in Heaven! We were blessed with 14 days of glorious sunshine and sunsets to die for. We did not budge but only to replenish food and wine and the odd walk to the beach. We arrived stressed and are leaving totally relaxed. We are sad to leave this beautiful place but look forward to May 16 when we return. Thanks Mel it has been truly wonderful!
A&L, Manchester

Inside:

  • Shell Seekers is 200 metres from the road/parkingdown the cliff via a path.
  • The open plan living area is filled with natural light and a great place to sit watching the azure views turn to moody skies. If you are lucky you might even see a pod of dolphins or occasional basking sharks. It's a real wildlife haven, look out for cormorants, kestrels and peregrine falcons.
  • The Cabin features a well equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, eye-level oven, microwave and small fridge-freezer.
  • In the Summer open up the French doors and allow the cabin to fill the air with salty ocean breezes. In the Winter curl up with a book in front of the roaring log burner. The cabin has central heating and there is also a flat screen TV/DVD along with Broadband so perfect throughout the year.
  • Travel cot and high chair, selection of books, games and DVD's, hairdryer, iron and iron board and binoculars have all been provided.

Sleeping:

  • From the living room, walk through to a sleeping area, where there is a single full length loft bed and a smaller single bed (5ft 5inches), only suitable for children.
  • From here, a door leads to a double bedroom with views across the sea and on a clear night you can watch the Eddystone lighthouse and the fishing boats twinkling in the bay.
  • Family bathroom with power shower over the bath, heated towel rail, basin and WC.

Outside:

  • Outside decking with table and chairs with panoramic views across the sea.
  • Garden (not suitable for toddlers) with sun loungers.
  • Summer house for storing wet suits, surf boards.
  • Portable charcoal BBQ.
  • Un-allocated parking 100 metres from the cabin at the top of the cliff (please note all previous guests have had no problem finding a parking space).

Need to know:

  • One storey stylish beach cabin.
  • Sorry, no smoking within the cabin.
  • Well behaved dogs welcome (additional charge applies).
  • Refundable damage deposit of £100, due with full balance.

  • Not suitable for anyone with mobility problems. Shellseekers is 100 metres down a footpathfrom the parking spaces at the top of the cliff.
  • The beach is reached by steep paths and steps, when you get down (there's plenty of stopping points to admire the view on the way) it's worth it as at low tide the long stretch of glistening sand provides some great walking, running and surfing with the right conditions.
  • Please note logs not provided for the log burner

  • We've had a fantastic 2 weeks at Shell Seekers. The weather has been good and we spent many afternoons sat outside admiring the view. The chalet is beautiful and Mel is a wonderful host. We will definitely be back.

  • Shell Seekers is an amazing property with fantastic views. The Chalet is lovely and has everything you need inside and out. We had an amazing 2 week stay. It's a bit of a hard walk back up from the beach but the beach is lovely so worth it. Its one of the nicest places we've ever stayed in and we will definitely stay again. We came home feeling very relaxed and refreshed. Mel the owner is also lovely and very helpful and we also found Beach Retreats an excellent company to book with.
