The Details

  • Location

    Where is it?

Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, Longships Lighthouse, and, on clear days, the Isles of Scilly, Gwynver Beach House is a breath-taking, sumptuously furnished, contemporary five-bedroom eco-retreat in the far southwest of Cornwall.

Spend the day with us at Gwynver Beach House, where we relax in the gorgeous interiors and walk to Sennen Cove - watch here.

Follow the walk from Gwynver Beach House to Sennen Cove here.

Dog friendly year-round and renowned as one of the best surfing beaches in the country, Gwynver Beach is a secluded sandy beach, joining with Sennen Cove at low tide to form Whitesands Bay. Reached via a short, sand dunes path directly opposite Gwynver Beach House, this little-known beach is never too crowded, yet still benefits from the bonus of security of lifeguard cover between May and September.

Classically Cornish in landscape, with a magical ‘edge of the world’ feel, the endless white sands and turquoise waters of Gwynver and Sennen Cove give these beaches a distinctly Mediterranean flavour.

A paradise for surfers, sun-worshipers and families, this bay has been voted as one of Britain's best blue flag beaches by Conde Nast Traveller. Sennen Surfing Centre and Smart’s Surf School are great choices for individual and group lessons, suited to both beginner surfers and the more advanced.

The magnificent West Cornwall coastline offers a heavenly experience for walkers. Seasoned and casual hikers will relish direct access to the Southwest Coastal Path, voted the best coastal path in the country. Set off on a fantastic route south from Gwynver to Land's End via Sennen Cove or north via Cot Valley, to spectacular Cape Cornwall and beyond. Alternatively, explore a variety of routes through the historic tin mining landscape at Cape Cornwall or inland to Carn Euny, one of the best-preserved ancient villages in the South West.

Nearby Sennen has been voted as one of Britain's best blue flag beaches by Conde Nast Traveller. If you're looking for a corner of Cornwall far from supermarkets, busy dual carriageways and the hectic pace of modern life, then Sennen Cove is where you'll find it. Here, it's all about relaxing with simple pleasures, pub lunches and a treat from the ice cream shop, cliff path walks along this most rugged of coastline and catching some of the endless waves on a surf or body board. Order in handline caught fish and seafood from Sennen Boathouse Stores and pick up on your arrival.

Nearby, discover the Cornish gems of the Minack Theatre and St Michael's Mount. St Ives is a short drive away, with the famous Tate Gallery and Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden, great shopping and lively cafe and restaurant culture. Even closer is Mousehole, with its rich fishing history and Michelin recommended restaurants.

"Really stunning location. There is a short walk to the footpaths that take you to Gwynver and Sennen beaches. Beach Retreats were very accommodating to support our groups need with babies and toddlers - with nice touches in the house like lots of good children's books. Thanks!
