THE WALK TO THE BEACH?

150 metres – cross the road, head down the slipway and you're there.


Where Is It?

Situated between Newquay and Watergate Bay on the rugged North Cornwall coast, Porth is a large, west-facing sandy beach, sheltered by headlands on either side and with a cafe, restaurant and pub right next to the beach.

Porth is the kind of beach that kids dream of with sheltered soft sand and rock pools galore, a stream flowing down to the shoreline and even an island with a wooden bridge across to it.

Lifeguards patrol the beach from May to September, making it safe for swimming and bodyboarding. Even during the height of summer, Porth provides a sense of peace.

Inside:

  • Set on a stunning cliff top location in the grounds of the Glendorgal Hotel with a restaurant and bar on site.
  • 350 metre walk down to Porth beach.
  • The house overlooks the pretty courtyard garden and the beach to the side.
  • Entrance hall with stairs leading up to the open plan living area with oak flooring and two large comfortable sofas, LCD television with digital package, CD/radio with USB port, DVD and mini-disc players plus superfast WiFi, XBox Games console and games provided.
  • French windows from the living area lead to a furnished balcony with garden and some sea views.
  • Dining area with table and 7 chairs.
  • Kitchen area with single oven, gas hob, extractor, fridge-freezer, microwave oven, washer/dryer and dishwasher.
  • Travel cot, baby bath, high chair, stairgate, iron, ironing board and a selection of books and games provided.
  • Central heating throughout.

Sleeping:

  • Ground floor master bedroom with double bed and patio doors leading to a private decking area.
  • En-suite shower room with basin, WC and shower enclosure.
  • Second bedroom with a double bed and one 3ft single guest bed.
  • Third bedroom with double bed.
  • Family shower room with shower enclosure, basin, WC and heated towel rail.
  • There is also a portable TV/DVD with Freeview which can be used in any of the bedrooms.

Outside:

  • Large private decking area with picnic bench.
  • Access to well-maintained communal gardens.
  • Designated parking for one car is provided close to the property plus additional visitor parking.

Need to know:

  • Complementary access for 2 people to the Glendorgal Hotel's indoor heated swimming pool.
  • Up to two well behaved dogs very welcome (except July and August - only 1 dog) but please note that dogs are not permitted on Lusty Glaze beach or Porth beach between Easter and 1st October. There are plenty of other dog walking options within walking distance (Lusty Glaze Headland & The Barrowfields) and some all year dog friendly beaches not too far away (Fistral, Watergate Bay & Mawgan Porth).
  • Sorry, no smoking within the property or anywhere on the premises.
  • Cautionary deposit of £75 required when booking.
  • Holiday concierge service available.
  • Short breaks available outside of school holidays.
  • Book a 3 or 5 night break and get an extra 2 nights free. This offer is only available after October half-term and before Easter, excluding school holidays. Only available to book by telephone on 01637 861005.

What Can I Walk To?

  • The on-site facilities, including a restaurant and bar, make it perfect for relaxing family holidays or breaks with friends (charge payable for use of leisure facilities).
  • To one side is Porth Beach, complete with soft sand, rock pools to explore, a family friendly pub, lifeguards from May to September and even a small island, accessed via a wooden bridge to explore.
  • To the other side Lusty Glaze Beach is home to an adventure sports centre and beach restaurant and, tide permitting, it is possible to walk along the water's edge along the beaches into Newquay.

  • For the more energetic is a beach walk all the way to Watergate Bay at low tide which is a fantastic walk and you can finish it off with a sundowner at The Beach Hut or the Jamie Oliver inspired restaurant Fifteen Cornwall which both overlook the sand, before heading back on the coast path.
