The Details

Location

Where is it?

Built for an old sea captain because of its elevated position and outstanding ocean views, Far Horizon is located just 5 miles east of Looe and 4.5 miles from Whitsand Bay, sleeping up to eight guests. This bright and spacious beach house is wonderfully situated within two acres of sub-tropical gardens and 180-degree sea views across Seaton Beach and out towards Looe Island.

Stride out along the seawall, paddle in the shallows, find a sunny spot for a lazy afternoon lounge, the southcoast shelter of Downderry is perfect for families and four-legged friends (the beach is dog-friendly all year round). Walk from the village slipway across to Downderry's sister beach Seaton and back, watch the fisherman casting lines and drawing fresh fish from the water or be lured into one of the village's gastropubs or eateries for a sundowner. A steaming bowl of mussels and a glass of Sauvignon Blanc? It'd be rude not to.

When the southerly swells are firing and the winds are right, Downderry is a less populated spot to catch a wave and popular with local surfers. This stretch of coast also plays home to many more bays waiting to be discovered, including Portwrinkle, Millendreath and Talland.

Guest Reviews

A beautiful house which was tastefully decorated. The lounge was relaxing and Woodburner lovely, plentiful supply of wood easily available. Views stunning didn't want to go out much .
A beautiful property in a fantastic location. We had a wonderful holiday and it provided a great base to explore Cornwall. Wendy could not have been kinder - a wonderful host
It really doesn't get much better than this in Cornwall! A beautiful, light, spacious and comfortable house with absolutely stunning sea views from every room. We would spend hours sitting and watching the waves roll in, mesmerised by the ever changing Cornish light. Relaxing in the hot tub whilst perched on a cliff looking out to the sea below or gazing up at the stars at night, was an experience we will never forget! The house was well equipped with lovely finishing touches for Christmas. We were sad to leave, but look forward to returning soon. The hosts were an absolute pleasure to deal with. If you love the sea, you will be blown away by this house.
Far Horizon is a comfortable, spacious home with amazing views. It had all the equipment that could possibly be required, it has a lovely lounge and various other living areas but we spent most of our time in the conservatory enjoying those views. The house is also in a good position if you have dogs, only a short walk to a year round dog friendly beach and a great nature reserve with walks through the woods, both of which our two dogs loved. Having arranged for groceries to be delivered before we arrived was a bonus and there was also some beautiful flowers and wine left for us, making us feel very welcome.
