When investing in a holiday let, one of the key assets of a potential purchase should be the degree of peace and quiet and what is in the immediate vicinity. After all, guests are on holiday. They want to relax and unwind, escape from the daily routine. And that can be quite hard in a property near a main road, pub, or businesses which are busy in the early morning such a postal sorting office.
So we were drawn to Corisande Manor and Pavilions in Pentire. Technically it’s an area of Newquay, but you wouldn’t believe it when stood on the terrace – this is about as far away from the hustle and bustle of the town centre as you can imagine.
Instead the properties sit above the bank of the Gannel Estuary as it opens out onto Crantock beach. Despite being within walking distance of Fistral Beach and the town, the ambience is perfect and complements the outlook over the estuary and out to the beach, the quality of the interiors and the landscaped gardens where guests can find a perfect picnic spot.
The accommodation is sympathetic to the original manor house, commissioned and built for a London doctor towards the end of the 19th Century. A Baronial and Italian influence, with a nod to a village sports pavilion and some creative and innovative architecture has created some characterful accommodation in the manor house itself.
For holiday lets, the gardens are a particular draw. Carefully landscaped grounds lead down to the water’s edge where you will find surf storage and an outdoor shower.
A 1 bedroomed house in the pavilions is available at £275,000, while 2 bedroomed apartments in the manor house start at £435,000, up to £650,000 for the four bedroomed duplex apartment.
