7 things to do in Cornwall during Easter

March 3, 2018

Spend your family holiday on the beach this Easter and enjoy the laid-back coastal lifestyle.

With the Easter holidays just around the corner, there is an abundance of fun activities for the whole family to enjoy. Whether it’s an activity on the beach or a visit to one of Cornwall’s attractions, here are our favourite things to see and do during your stay this Easter.

Book a family surf lesson

If the waves are too busy for you in the height of the summer, now’s the perfect time to get suited and booted and ride the waves with the locals. Hire your wetsuit and board from a local surf school with lessons included for all abilities.

Walk the South West Coast Path

Walk onto any beach in Cornwall and you’ll spot part of the South West Coast Path to your left or right. Whether you choose to explore the rugged north coast and its hidden coves or the tropical south coast, you’ll find something different and exciting each turn you take.

Go rockpooling

Head to many beaches in Cornwall at low tide and visitors will be pleasantly surprised with hundreds of rockpools just waiting to be explored. You’ll be treated to a natural display of fascinating and tough creatures, including the Cornish Sucker fish, Worm Pipefish and the Common Shore Crab.

Eden Eggstravaganza

Every bit as good as the hype, the Eden Project is on Cornwall’s essential tick list. Outstanding on a sunny day and a good choice when it rains, Eden is an inspired blend of indoor and outdoor fun. Dubbed the eighth wonder of the world by some, this dramatic global garden is housed in tropical biomes the size of 30 football pitches.

Over Easter there are dozens of activities for the whole family in a three-week programme. Explore Eden on one of their egg hunts, scramble your way through an assault course and tackle other Easter-inspired games. Plus, there will be lots of special prizes and treats to enjoy.

6 – 25 April.

Easter Quest at Pendennis Castle

Join the hunt for dragon eggs on a legendary quest this Easter holiday. Crack the clues as you and your family follow the trail around Pendennis Castle. Intrepid adventurers who track down the dragon egg will get a certificate to prove it, and there’ll be a chocolate treat too!

You can get questing at Pendennis every day of the school holidays. It costs just £1 per child, and there’s no need to book.

6 – 28 April.

Go Foraging

Make the most of the Spring sunshine and get out and about with a forage that will take you deep into Cornwall’s woodlands, hedgerows and on the coast. From Cornish mussels and rose chips to wild herbs and edible plants, you’ll find plenty of wild foods great for cooking.

If you’re looking for a little guidance on your forage we recommend Rachel Lambert, an expert in foraging the Cornish coastline.
