This stylish and contemporary retreat sits in an elevated position on the cliffs overlooking Porthtowan beach, offering panoramic sea views and easy beach access for families or groups of up to ten. Porthtowan sits at the foot of high cliffs on north Cornwall's rugged coast, with a relaxed, off-the-beaten-path feel and a pretty sandy beach backed by cliffs. The beach is just 200 metres down the hill via the coast path or the lane.
Inside, a central spiral staircase connects the reverse-level layout, with open-plan living, kitchen and dining space on the first floor. The living area looks out through a full-width glass balcony across the coastline, furnished with a large corner sofa and two swivel armchairs. A dining table seats ten beside a porthole window framing views of Bawden Rocks and the headland. The fully equipped kitchen includes a wine fridge, Magimix coffee machine, Quooker hot tap and a breakfast bar seating three. Four bedrooms – three with super-king beds and sea views, the fourth with a king-sized bed – each have en-suite bathrooms, while a TV room on the top floor offers a sofa bed for additional sleeping. The master en-suite includes a freestanding bathtub and walk-in rainfall shower. Underfloor heating runs throughout, and a utility room provides a washing machine and tumble dryer. A cot and highchair are available. Outside, full-width glass balconies on two levels take in the coast, while a sheltered sun terrace to the rear includes dining for eight, a corner sofa and a gas barbecue. Private off-road parking is available for two cars, with a garage and surf store.
Porthtowan has a handful of cafes, pubs and restaurants, an ice-cream parlour, surf hire and lessons, and a sea pool. The coast path leads to Chapel Porth and Wheal Coates, and the beautiful St Agnes is accessible on foot via the South West Coast Path or a short drive away, with plenty of places to eat out and enjoy an evening cocktail on the beach.
