This converted barn sits just a few hundred metres from the sandy shorefront at Mawgan Porth, making it a wonderful base for families or couples looking for a coastal escape in North Cornwall. The beach gets it just right – a stretch of white sand, a swirling ocean, and a handful of tasty eateries dotted along the beachfront street. Little feet can splash about in the trickling river and leave tiny footprints on the sand, perhaps joined by pawprints, as the beach is dog friendly all year round.
Inside, high ceilings rise into the eaves with skylights set between original beams, flooding the rooms with light. The open-plan living area features a modern Swedish wood burner and sea glimpses, with underfloor heating throughout. A fully equipped kitchen offers sleek built-in storage. The master bedroom has a king-size bed, skylight, and patio doors opening onto a grassed area with a picnic bench, plus an en-suite with an oversized rain shower. A second bedroom offers zip-and-link beds that can be configured as twin singles or one king-size, and a family bathroom has a bath with a shower over. Outside, there is parking for one vehicle, a gated shared courtyard with a picnic bench, a shared garden for supervised children's play, a shared surf shower and a laundry room with a coin-operated washer and dryer, and a table tennis room.
Take the steady amble towards Watergate Bay, 2 miles away, or Bedruthan Steps at 2.5 miles, where you can soak up spectacular panoramas. A surf school on the beach offers the chance to try your hand at mastering the waves, and there is seasonal crazy golf and pitch and putt based near a historic Iron Age site. Padstow is around 20 minutes away by car.
