This three-storey waterfront house sits directly on Hayle estuary in west Cornwall, offering families and small groups a striking coastal base. Hayle nestles at the mouth of the estuary between St Ives and Gwithian, with three miles of golden sandy beach stretching from Hayle Towans to Godrevy Point.
On the first floor, the spacious open-plan living area, kitchen and dining space – interior designed by Lydia Allen – features wall-to-wall glass sliding doors that open entirely onto a balcony overlooking the estuary. The dining table seats six with views of the water, and the fully equipped kitchen includes a central island with stools and a coffee machine. Underfloor heating and WiFi are provided throughout, with a travel cot and highchair available. The master bedroom on the second floor has a king-size bed and en-suite rainfall shower, with a mezzanine and glass balcony overlooking the living area – note this bedroom has no door and is not suitable for children. On the ground floor, the second bedroom has a super-king bed, en-suite rainfall shower and glass sliding doors onto a private balcony above the water. A third bedroom has two single beds, and a family bathroom with bath completes the accommodation. Outside, both the ground-floor terrace and first-floor balcony offer immediate estuary views, with private parking for one vehicle and undercover storage for wetsuits and surfboards.
The beach is a short stroll along the pedestrian promenade, and the local swimming pool is moments away. St Ives Bay stretches from the estuary to Godrevy lighthouse – miles of golden sand and expansive horizon. Further along, Gwithian offers flat open sand perfect for kite flying, racing and horse riding. Beyond, Godrevy and its iconic lighthouse – famed for inspiring Virginia Woolf's To the Lighthouse – stands proud on the skyline, while the rugged coastline sweeps over the National Trust-owned headland to Mutton Cove, home to a grey seal colony. Back in Hayle, the Saltings nature reserve is a prime spot for murmurations in the shoulder months, and Carbis Bay and St Ives are a short hop away by train.
