This characterful cottage sits just a few hundred metres from the sandy shorefront at Mawgan Porth, offering families a peaceful retreat with far-reaching views across rolling hills and countryside. The beach gets it just right – a stretch of white sand, a swirling ocean and a handful of tasty eateries along the beachfront street. Little feet can splash about in the trickling river and leave tiny footprints on the sand, perhaps joined by pawprints as the beach is dog friendly all year round.
Inside, oak and slate floors, oak beams and level access throughout the ground floor give the cottage a light and spacious feel. The cosy living room features a wood burner with wood provided, a Smart HDR TV, and a Bluetooth speaker. The double-height farmhouse-style kitchen has an underheated slate floor, seating for six and a striking pink Smeg fridge/freezer. On the ground floor, a large double-aspect bedroom has a zip-and-link bed available as a twin or a super king size, while upstairs, a galleried landing leads to a twin room and a king-size double with Velux windows framing coastal and rural views. A family bathroom with a rainfall shower over a bath and a ground-floor shower room complete the sleeping quarters. A travel cot, stairgate and highchair are included. Outside, there is parking for one vehicle, a gated shared courtyard with picnic bench, a shared lawned garden, a surf shower, a laundry room, and a table tennis room.
Try your hand at mastering the waves at the local surf school or let off steam at the seasonal crazy golf and pitch and putt course near a historic Iron Age site. Take the steady amble up the South West Coast Path towards neighbouring Watergate Bay or Bedruthan Steps where you can soak up spectacular panoramas. Padstow is a little further afield, 20 minutes away by car.
