This three-bedroom eco chalet sits on the dunes at Upton Towans in Hayle, offering families and groups of up to seven a light-filled coastal retreat within easy reach of Gwithian's stunning three-mile beach. The detached single-storey layout harmonises with the dune-dotted landscape on the edge of Upton Towans Nature Reserve.
Inside, the open-plan living, dining and kitchen space features floor-to-ceiling glass windows and large sliding patio doors. A large L-shaped sofa, Italian velvet armchair and cosy log burner create a welcoming spot to unwind, with faux fur throws and a 50-inch TV. The dining area seats seven around a solid oak table, and the fully equipped kitchen includes a Nespresso coffee machine and large wine fridge, with a breakfast bar and reclaimed oak shelving handcrafted from Cornish yew. The master bedroom has a king-size weathered oak bed with rattan headboard and an ensuite walk-in rainfall shower with handmade emerald green tiles. A second bedroom offers a king-size French four-poster bed, while the third has a chalet bunk bed – double below, single above – suitable for up to three when children are included. The family bathroom has a bath with rainfall shower. Outside, a large secluded garden backs onto the dunes, with a Cornish granite patio, outdoor dining for eight, Weber charcoal barbecue, Mexican chiminea and Ooni Karu pizza oven. Six sun loungers and up-lighting complete the space. Underfloor heating and high-speed fibre optic broadband run throughout, with parking for two cars. A cot and highchair are available.
Gwithian beach is a fifteen-minute stroll away past the nature reserve and sand dunes, with miles of golden sand stretching towards Godrevy and its iconic lighthouse – famed for inspiring Virginia Woolf's To the Lighthouse. The coastline sweeps over the National Trust-owned headland to Mutton Cove, home to a grey seal colony. Back in Hayle, the town has ice cream and pasty shops for hungry stomachs, while the estuary's soft sands invite a paddle. The Saltings nature reserve is a prime spot for murmurations in the shoulder months, and Carbis Bay and St Ives are a short hop away by train.
