Socialise and unwind
Inside you’ll find a huge, open plan living space, dining area and kitchen on the first floor with full-width glass sliding doors for a panoramic view of the bay. The hub of the house, where cooking, wave watching and sharing a bottle of wine seamlessly flows. Lounge on uniquely designed handmade sofas and armchairs in a TV-free living room (there’s plenty of TVs elsewhere), which encourages good conversation and ocean gazing. Relax with a large skylight, Sonos speaker system, and curtains to envelope the room late in the evening. Separately, discover the cinema room with 78-inch TV and large custom-made comfy sofa, made for movie night in stormy weather. Unwind in the spa area with a built-in wooden Finnish sauna and a walk-in resin rainfall shower, as well as floor space for yoga and Pilates. The door from this room leads to the outdoor hot tub.
Feast
Gather around the large central dining table for 10, with overhanging feature lights. Cook up a storm in the fully equipped kitchen with Avalanche Unistone quartz worktops, double fridge/freezer with water filter, induction hob, double oven, extractor fan, large plate warmer for dinners, dishwasher and microwave. There’s also a central island with sink and bar stools, a social centre for the home and the perfect cocktail station.
Sleep
You’ll find the master bedroom on the first floor, with a superking size bed, dressing room and freestanding bath overlooking the ocean. There are four bedrooms downstairs, all with ensuites, dressing rooms and doors to the garden. Three king rooms and one twin. Each ensuite features a walk-in resin rainfall shower, heated towel rail, WC and basin.
Bask
Outside, lounge in the large garden with a high wall for privacy and shelter. Includes outdoor sofas, chairs and table, and a hot outdoor shower.
Upstairs you’ll find a huge wraparound balcony, with a large deck directly overlooking the sea and rolling dunes, and outdoor furniture for lounging. There’s also a roof terrace accessed through a button-controlled skylight. Make the most of Widemouth Bay’s lack of light pollution with a night of stargazing, and lounge on large high-quality bean bags to be used indoors and out.
The surroundings
Gaia offers the best of both worlds. Privacy and tranquillity prevail in the high walls of the retreat, with your main outdoor spaces overlooking secluded sand dunes. Step outside the gate and you’re in the heart of the beach action. Direct coast path access means sunset rambles or day-long stomps are yours for the taking.
Soak up the wild ambience of Black Rock Beach from the sofa or balcony, or get stuck into the surf at Widemouth Bay, a long unspoilt stretch of sandy coastline known for its ‘big sky’ feel, great waves and relaxed atmosphere. Lifeguard cover through the summer makes it a brilliant spot for beginners and seasoned surfers alike, with a surf hire moments away. When you’re ready to explore further, Bude is just three miles away — restaurants, surf shops and supermarkets alongside endless coast path miles in either direction.
