This cosy cabin sits just a mile inland from Porthcothan – one of Cornwall's secret bays. It’s a perfect self-catering stay for couples or small groups wanting to swap the everyday for open Atlantic air. A deep inlet surrounded by rocky headlands with a big expanse of sand at low tide, Porthcothan has remained largely undeveloped and retains a lovely hidden quality. The cabin sleeps four guests and pairs coastal interiors with a rustic and contemporary twist.
Inside, the spacious open-plan kitchen, dining, and living area features a wood burner, two-seater and three-seater sofas, a TV with Netflix and DVD. The fully equipped kitchen includes a Dolce Gusto pod coffee machine, while a large wooden dining table seats up to six. Double doors open onto the decking and garden. The master bedroom has a sumptuous super-king-size bed with 400 thread count sheets and an en-suite with a shower over the bath. The spacious second bedroom offers a super-king-size zip-and-link bed that can be separated into a twin on request, and another en-suite bathroom. Outside, a large private enclosed garden features decking, a round wooden table and chairs for al fresco dining, two benches, a quirky outdoor kitchen, and a gas BBQ with plancha grill. There is private parking for two cars.
Porthcothan Beach is around a mile away – quieter than many better-known beaches, with a focus on playing on the sand and in the sea, and surf lessons on offer. Around the corner, Treyarnon Bay (1.5 miles) has golden sand and a coast path with panoramic views over Constantine Bay. The village of St Merryn is also 1.5 miles away, with a handful of pubs and restaurants perfect for an evening out with the locals. Padstow and its picturesque harbour are 4.5 miles away. Bedruthan Steps (3.5 miles) and Mawgan Porth Beach (5 miles) are also close by.
