This interior-designed two-bedroom first floor apartment sits just steps from the sand of Porth beach, offering families and adventurers of all ages a laid-back coastal base on the rugged North Cornwall coast. Situated between Newquay and Watergate Bay, Porth is a large west-facing sandy beach sheltered by headlands on either side, with beachside eateries right next to the sand. The sheltered bay and large tidal range make for two different holidays every day – safe swimming and watersports when the tide is in, rockpool and cave exploring when the tide is out. A sweep of beach provides ample terrain for sandcastle building.
Inside, the cosy open-plan living, dining and kitchen space has been designed by award-winning interior designer Nicola O'Mara. Coastal-style interiors blend soft fabrics and natural textures with the ease of beach living. The living area opens through sliding doors to a private courtyard, with comfortable seating and a TV for quieter evenings. The fully equipped kitchen includes a coffee machine and washer/dryer. The master bedroom has a comfortable king-size bed and an ensuite with shower, while the second bedroom offers a zip-and-link bed that can be configured as two singles. A family bathroom provides a bath with shower overhead. WiFi is available throughout. Outside, an enclosed south-facing courtyard catches the sun from morning to late afternoon – a safe space for children and dogs, furnished with a round table, four chairs and a parasol. Access to the apartment is by stairs or lift, with a designated parking space for one car.
A narrow wooden footbridge leads across to Porth Island, a headland full of history – at mid tide, the blow hole shoots rainbow sprays of water. The coast path leads to Lusty Glaze beach in one direction and towards Watergate Bay in the other, while Newquay and its selection of shops, restaurants and beaches are within walking distance. At low tide, walk the beach towards Watergate Bay or head towards the rolling cliffs of Mawgan Porth. Seven beaches sit within easy reach on foot, and bus stops right by the beach provide frequent access further afield.
