This beautifully finished beachside house sits directly in front of the beach in Perranporth, offering families and groups of friends an ideal base on Cornwall's north coast. Part of The Dunes development and tucked away in an almost traffic-free location, this three-storey home sleeps up to eight across four bedrooms with contemporary interiors. Wild cliffs and open countryside surround the town – the same landscape that inspired Winston Graham to write the Poldark novels – and it's easy to see why.

The open-plan living, dining and kitchen space occupies the second floor, with floor-to-ceiling windows and patio doors opening onto a balcony with uninterrupted sea views over the sand dunes, beach and Atlantic Ocean. Two large sofas, a TV and a beautiful wooden dining table make this a welcoming space to gather. The fully equipped kitchen includes a wine fridge, cafetiere and breakfast bar with three leather stools, while a second balcony off the kitchen offers a bistro table for two. The master bedroom on the ground floor has a super-king bed (convertible to twins), en-suite rainfall shower and patio doors leading to a large terrace with alfresco dining for eight and sweeping sea views. Two further bedrooms have king-size beds – one with ocean views and en-suite – while a fourth has a double bed. A family bathroom with bath completes the sleeping arrangements. Underfloor heating runs throughout and a utility cupboard houses the washer/dryer. Outside, the terrace leads to a communal lawn, and the garage provides surf rack storage, space for kayaks and beach gear, plus an outside tap for sandy boots and paws. One allocated parking space and a garage space are provided, with private beach access via the development footpath.

Perranporth's colourful streets are dotted with boutiques, cafes, restaurants and surf stores, while the local golf club sits on the green cliff tops. Hike the coastal path, seek out secret caves, or paddle on the shoreline. At low tide, wild swim in the town's natural open-air pool, where waters can reach Mediterranean temperatures in summer. A short drive takes you to Fistral Beach and Watergate Bay, or head south for the heritage coastline and unspoiled bays of St Agnes.
