This cosy Grade II listed former fisherman's cottage sits in the heart of Mousehole, a picturesque fishing village in west Cornwall, making it a great base for couples or small families looking to explore the cobbled streets, pretty harbour and sandy beach just moments from the door. The village retains its original character, charm and beauty – yellow lichened fishermen's houses huddle together along narrow streets, with art galleries, cafes, boutique shops and restaurants all within a two-minute walk.
Inside, the cottage is spread over two floors with a wealth of original features including beamed ceilings, exposed granite walls and wooden flooring with a contemporary twist. The spacious open-plan living room, diner and kitchen is anchored by original stone walls and a log burner for cosy winter nights, with a two-seater sofa, armchair and cushioned window seat. The fully equipped hand-built kitchen leads to a dining area with an extendable wooden table and a window seat with storage. Upstairs, the master bedroom has a king-size bed, floating bedside tables and pendant lamps, while bedroom two has two single beds – one elevated – with wall lamps for reading. The family bathroom features a walk-in rainfall shower and underfloor heating. The harbour beach is just 60 metres from the front door. There is no private parking, but two harbour car parks are close by (charges apply). Wi-fi is included.
Perch on the harbour wall with a picnic, spend the day on the beach as the tide goes out, or watch the fishing boats bobbing on the horizon. Local galleries, cafes, restaurants and pubs are dotted around the village. Lamorna Cove can be reached via the South West Coast Path, and Newlyn village is a two-mile walk away.
