This detached coastal cottage sits in an incredible position on the Mawgan Porth clifftops, just a short walk from the beach – a stylish retreat by the sea for families and groups. Mawgan Porth is a beach that gets it just right: a stretch of white sand, a swirling ocean and a handful of tasty eateries. Little feet can splash about in the trickling river and leave tiny footprints on the sand, perhaps joined by pawprints, as the beach is dog friendly all year round.
Inside, the spacious open-plan living and dining area on the ground floor has sweeping sea views, a log burner and comfortable seating including two sofas, a window seat and a coffee table. A 42-inch Smart TV with Sonos soundbar is on hand for movie nights. The kitchen features an electric oven, induction hob, full-height fridge freezer, American fridge, microwave, Nespresso coffee machine and dishwasher, with a dining area seating eight. A separate utility room houses a washing machine and tumble dryer. Four bedrooms are spread across two floors: a king-size on the ground floor with sea views, a ground-floor twin, a first-floor king-size with sea views and a sofa, and a first-floor double also with sea views. A family bathroom on the first floor offers a bath with rainfall shower, while a ground-floor shower room provides a walk-in rainfall shower and separate WC. Outside, a large enclosed garden with a table and eight chairs makes a fine spot for alfresco dining with sea views. A BBQ area and hot outdoor shower sit ready for beach days, and a private gated driveway provides parking for at least four cars.
The beachfront street is dotted with shops and cafes, and a local surf school offers the chance to try your hand at mastering the waves. Let off steam at the seasonal crazy golf and pitch and putt course, based near a historic Iron Age site. For a longer walk, take the steady amble up the South West Coast Path towards neighbouring Watergate Bay or Bedruthan Steps, where you can soak up sweeping views along the coastline. Padstow is a little further afield, around 20 minutes away by car.
