Polzeath and New Polzeath, Cornwall
A haven for surfers and beach lovers, located just 10 minutes from Rock where you can catch the ferry to Padstow. Polzeath and New Polzeath are split by the sand and shingle beach which leads out into the Atlantic Ocean. The beach is covered by lifeguards during the summer and is ideal for surfing, with resident school Surf’s Up and Animal Surf Academy, where you can book lessons and hire clothing and equipment. Walkers will love the coastal path which passes through Polzeath onto Daymer Bay and Trebetherick in one direction and through New Polzeath and Pentire Point in the other, enjoying views of The Rumps with an Iron Age cliff castle. Dogs are welcome on Polzeath beach between October and Easter. There are some great options for eating out locally in addition to nearby Padstow with the family of Rick Stein restaurants. The Oystercatcher perched high above the beach is ideal for lazy lunches and relaxing dinners. The Waterfront Café Bar commands the best views in Polzeath with a truly worldwide menu. Saltwater Café Bistro is renowned for using the best in local ingredients including fish to create an imaginative menu. The Seascape Hotel has a very popular Pudding Club while the Atlantic House Hotel & Doom Bar is a great spot for a sundowner and light meal. For local produce, try Carruan Farm Shop which sells a range of quality meats, sausages, dairy produce, vegetables, home made cakes, chutneys and jams. Polzeath has not one but two small mini markets which sell groceries, hot food and a delicatessen. Particularly during the summer months, Polzeath buzzes with a beach vibe in every café, shop and beach bar. If you get tired of the beach you can escape to nearby Rock for some great watersports or sample the coastal course of St Enodoc Golf Club, or Padstow with its mix of unique shops and cafes. The National Lobster Hatchery on the quay at Padstow is a great chance to see lobsters from birth to adulthood and you can even adopt your own lobster! Take a walk or hire a bike on the Camel Trail through to the bustling market town of Wadebridge and onto Bodmin. The world famous Eden Project is located just 24 miles from Polzeath by road and for families, Crealy Adventure Park is a great day out. Please select an accommodation option below:
