Wrens Nest, located close to Porth beach, is a perfect example of the cosy Cornish character cottage with period detail everywhere, from the original flagstone floor to the low beamed ceilings. Originally an old sail loft and net shed for the local lugger fleets, it has been thoughtfully furnished and is an ideal place to hunker down after a bracing walk on the beach which is just a few steps away or to use as a base for a beach holiday. Porth is the kind of beach that kids dream of with soft sand and rock pools galore. Located on the north coast of Cornwall it has a stream flowing down to the shoreline and even an island with a wooden bridge across to it. Lifeguards patrol the beach from May to September, making it safe for swimming, surfing and body boarding. Even during the height of summer, Porth provides a sense of peace, with a bistro, cafe, pub and handy convenience store right next to the beach. The handy wooden stable door means that you can enjoy the sound of the sea while you cook in the little kitchen equipped with gas hob, single electric oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, iron, ironing board and washer/dryer. The character wooden table seats three comfortably and the hand built cupboards are well equipped with everything you need to enjoy family meals together. Just off the kitchen is the living room with flat screen television with Sky package and integrated DVD player, stereo system and Wifi access. The leather sofa and chair provide somewhere to relax in front of the wood burner effect gas stove in the evening. Stair gate between kitchen and living room. The wooden stairs up to the loft are steep and open tread so special care should be taken and they may not be suitable for young children, pregnant women or elderly people. However, they add to the character of the cottage as you can imagine fishermen in years gone by heading up to bed after a hard day at sea. Very tall people will have to take care with the low beamed ceilings. The master bedroom has beautiful original polished wooden floorboards, antique wardrobe which is stuffed with plenty of books, chest of drawers and a handy cupboard for storage. The wrought iron bed has crisp white linen and if you open the window, you can drift off to the sound of the waves outside. Children will love the second bedroom with the captain`s bunk bed and coastal theme decor. The wooden chest is home to a selection of games and toys to keep them occupied and also can be used as a seat for watching the word go by outside. The cosy bathroom next door has a small bath with shower fitting (please note that there is no stand up shower at the property), basin and W.C. and on the walls are traditional blue tiles. One small, well behaved dog is accepted, but please note that dogs are not permitted on Porth beach between Easter and 1st October, however, there are several beaches within easy walking distance where you can exercise your dog. Parking is available in the public car park which is within a very short walk. Cautionary deposit of £50 required when booking.
